Airline Insecurity Part Deux
From CNN.com:
The pilot of a Canadian airliner who went to the washroom during a flight found himself locked out of the cockpit, forcing the crew to remove the door from its hinges to let him back in, the airline said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred aboard a flight from Ottawa to Winnipeg on Saturday. The regional jet, capable of carrying 50 people, was operated by Air Canada's Jazz subsidiary.
The crew removed "the door from its hinges"?! Unless the Canadian airlines are hiring brawny, french-canadian trapper-types as flight attendants, this report makes it sound insanely easy to get through a cockpit door. I can see the emails coming in from airline executives and the FAA, TSA & DHS now:
"Ladies and gentleman, please put check your oversized common sense and concern at the gate. You'll be able to pick them up at your destination after completing your flight with SSM (Safety through Smoke and Mirrors) Airlines."
FWIW- CNN.com filed this report in the "Offbeat News" section. I wonder if the pilot left his microphone on when he entered the lavatory...
