Out My Window

Well, not exactly out my window, but close to my hotel anyway. You can see this thing for miles. So, you’re asking, what the heck is it?

According to Wikipedia…

The Sendai Daikannon is an approximately 100 meter high Kannon statue. The statue was built during Japan's bubble economy by a now defunct company. Although it is possible to enjoy a panoramic view from the statue, it is disliked by many locals, partially because it looks rather out of place in the middle of a residential district, and partially because most people see the statue as a symbol of greed, not faith.

I think my grandmother had a salt and pepper shaker set that kind of looked like this guy.
