The Bombing of the Colbert

Comedy is best left to those who can deliver. The best Steve Colbert got last night was a polite “golf clap”. Captain Ed wraps up the goings on at the White House Correspondents Dinner, where George W. Bush was the hit of the night.

CNN’s Limbaugh Bias

I receive “Breaking News” email alerts from CNN. Moments ago, I received this one.

Rush Limbaugh arrested on prescription drug charges and released on bail, law enforcement officials in Florida, tell AP.

Now, doesn’t that sound like Rush was on a street corner in Florida with a dime bag in one hand and a wad of bills [...]

14,500

That’s how many people died at the hands of terrorists in 2005.

Terrorists killed more than 14,500 people in 11,000 attacks across the globe last year, the U.S. State Department said in its annual report on terrorism.
Fifty-six of those killed were Americans, the report said. Three thousand of the deaths were attributable to 360 suicide bombings. [...]

El Himno Nacional

A Brit and a bunch of rappers decided it would be a great idea to record a Spanish language version of the U.S. National Anthem. I think it’s outrageous.

Some Internet bloggers and others are infuriated by the thought of “The Star-Spangled Banner” sung in a language other than English.
“Would the French accept people singing the [...]

It’s Supply and Demand, Stupid

Professor Krauthammer provides the history lesson of the day.

Dumb Poll of the Day

Opinion Research Corporation was commissioned by CNN to conduct a poll asking the following question.
“Who would make a better candidate, Hillary Clinton or Hillary Rodham Clinton?”

I’m not kidding…
James Joyner has more.

DOS Attack

Well, that was interesting.
It seems that Hosting Matters, the web hosting company that houses PunditGuy along with a ton of other blogs, got hit with a Denial of Service attack today. From what I can tell, it started at 8:06 AM Pacific Time and ended at 9:32 AM.
So, we’re back up, for now.

Do it Now! Or…or…uh…

The U.N. will do nothing, and Ahmadinejad knows it.

The leaders of Russia and Germany urged Iran to fulfill its international nuclear obligations Thursday, a day before a U.N. Security Council deadline for Iran to stop enriching uranium. Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed that no one could make Tehran give up its nuclear technology.

And in [...]

Eating Our Own

Arlen strikes again.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter said Thursday he is considering legislation to cut off funding for the Bush administration’s secret domestic wiretapping program until he gets satisfactory answers about it from the White House. “Institutionally, the presidency is walking all over Congress at the moment,” Specter, R-Pa., told the panel.

Great, just great. [...]

Air American Losing It’s New York Air

I’m actually surprised it lasted this long.

Air America Radio will lose its New York flagship station, WLIB-AM, on Aug. 31. While the left-leaning radio network’s original lease for the Inner City station ran out March 31, AAR managed to get an extension which only lasts until Aug. 31, according to an informed source.

Forget about intentions, [...]

Priceless

This is great, even if Dana Milbank wrote it.

Buying Votes

I had to look at this story twice to believe what I was reading. Republicans in the Senate are proposing to send each American $100 to counter high gasoline costs. One hundred bucks. Puhleeze.

Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee called the proposal “a bold package that will give consumers some relief” from gasoline prices that [...]
